IMMIGRANT SERVICES
- Immigrant Services Program (ISP) provides direct services to the community through the Immigrant Q&A line and citizenship application assistance. The Q&A line is a free service that provides answers and referrals to general questions ranging from immigration and naturalization to civil rights. Citizenship application assistance helps fill out the Application for Naturalization (form N-400), take photos, and submit the application to United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) currently free of charge. We are also proud to be a part of the Santa Clara County Citizenship Collaborative that sponsors the annual Citizenship Day.
- The Immigrant Q&A line operates in three languages- English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. Callers receive general information on immigration, naturalization, health, civil rights, and public benefits. Those who need legal advice or require specific assistance on certain issues such as where to sign up for ESL/Citizenship classes are referred to other community based organizations for additional help. All answers and referrals provided through the Immigrant Q&A line are free of charge.
- Citizenship Application Assistance
- We also provide free of charge application assistance. The service includes eligibility assessment, filling out and reviewing the N-400 form, taking photos, and submitting the application to USCIS. We continue to provide support to our clients even after the application has been submitted by answering their questions, translating certain documents from USCIS, and making appointments online for them to speak with USCIS officers.

- Another way to combine community education and direct services is through our annual Citizenship Day. As a member of the Santa Clara County Citizenship Collaborative, we are one of the lead agencies who organize Citizenship Day. This is a countywide event that offers citizenship assistance for free. These free services include citizenship orientations in various languages, eligibility assessment, application assistance, photos, referrals to ESL/Citizenship classes, and legal consultation if necessary.
In October 22, 2005 SIREN was the main organizer of Citizenship Day which was held at Most Holy Trinity Church in East San Jose. Orientations were in English, Cambodian, Farsi, Tagalog, Spanish, and Vietnamese. This event attracted approximately 1,000 participants who came to learn more about the requirements, benefits, and process of naturalization as well as to take advantage of the free services we provide |
