COMMUNITY ORGANIZING
SIREN assists communities in tapping their potential for leadership and to allow empowerment, education and communication among all communities. We organize, mobilize and provide community education presentations to increase civic engagement and empowerment.
SIREN believes that immigrants themselves are the primary agents of change. To promote leadership development and community organizing on state and federal immigration issues, SIREN created two immigrant led community-based projects: the Immigrant Community Organizers and The Seven Trees Leadership Committee:
- Immigrant Community Organizers consist of eleven leaders responsible for organizing and engaging their ethnic community around SIREN’s campaigns. SIREN has 11 community organizers from 8 different countries, including ICO’s from six of the neediest immigrant groups in Santa Clara County: Mexico, Vietnam, China, the Philippines, India and Iran.
- The Seven Trees Leadership Committee is an immigrant grassroots leadership development program that educates and organizes immigrants on state and federal immigration issues Seven Trees is located in a highly immigrant populated neighborhood in Southeast San Jose.
